Piano TuningKeeping your piano tuned properly will enhance your musical experience as well as maintaining your valuable investment in stable and good condition. Ideally, a piano should be tuned twice each year, although a once yearly tuning will help to maintain a balanced tension across its iron frame and cabinet structure, as the manufacturer designed it to be. John specialises in grand pianos and offers home, school and institution, as well as concert tuning services.
Regulation and VoicingRegulation is the adjustment of the many components that make up the keyboard and striking system within the piano. In total there are some 24 steps in an upright piano, and 37 steps in a grand piano to ensure that the piano mechanism is working as efficiently as possible. Good regulation means consistent, superb touch and an even tone.
Voicing is the technique of altering the tonal character of a piano and is mostly achieved by manipulating the individual hammers. Voicing can release the full depth of tone that a piano is capable of producing over its speaking volume. A piano must be in a good state of regulation and tuning before voicing can be properly applied. Repairs and AppraisalsAt Keynote Piano Services we provide a full restoration and repair service. Restoration can include re-stringing, installation of new hammers and dampers as well as regulation and voicing.
Appraisals of new or used pianos can be arranged for insurance, valuation and pre-purchase needs. |
